Toddlers - Little Tot Signing
Ages 12..18 months - One word Communication Skills
Ages 19..35 months - Numbers, Letters, Colors, Shapes, Circle, Stories, Music ( feeling the beat)
Ages 36 months to 5 years - More Extensive Numbers, Letters, Colors, Shapes, Stories, Music, Animals, Friends, Family. This will be an interactive class including family members. They will be able to control their frustration, accept routines (signing - it's time to go to sleep/ it's time to have a bath, or the baby can sign - I want a glass milk or more cookies please etc.)
A non-signing child will cry to get their points across - signing is a way for them to communicate without getting upset first. Adult interaction is positive with the ability to create a higher self esteem. Excellent communication skills in preparation for pre-school. Hearing Children of the same age and/or sibling can speak with clarity to each other, promoting a calmer environment of play.
Shorter Classes - Signing Made Easy
Level 1 - The course will included basic short words and phrases as well as guidance for communication in banks, gas stations, grocery stores and retail stores. 'Hello" How Are You" Are You Looking for Something'.
Level 2 - As above except the short words and phrases will move into sentence structure. What is Lexicalized Fingerspelling, Numbers.
Level 3 - This course will be open to those students who have completed Level 1 and 2 but also to those that want to challenge the course. This will be an overview of Level 1 and 2.
Higher Level - Extended classes will be offered for the student interested in achieving a higher level of competence. 120 hour course.
Distress Sign Class
A basic introduction to signs that would benefit emergency personnel such as police officers, EMT's, emergency doctors and hospital personnel, as well as first aid attendants. Signs will focus on building a basic communication to identify problems, injuries, locations and information between the Deaf and hard of Hearing and Hearing communities to ensure basic health and safety of any individual in need of medical assistance.
